About The College:
Glasgow College of Nautical Studies has an international reputation for nautical and marine engineering education. It also provides a wide range of other courses.
The College has 2 campuses on the south bank of the River Clyde, within walking distance of each other.
Courses lead to qualifications ranging from National Qualifications to Higher National Diplomas, as well as a degree in Nautical Science.
Courses are run through the following Schools:
School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering;
School of Marine Engineering;
School of Marine Operations;
School of Nautical Studies;
School of Business, Communication and ICT;
School of Sport, Leisure and Beauty Therapy;
School of Health, Early Education, Drama and Social Science;
School of Social and Community Studies.
There are some 7,000 students, 2,000 of whom are full time.
Support for learning
Learner Services provides support in study skills – essay and report writing, number work, computing – on a drop-in basis.
There is extra help for students with additional support needs such as dyslexia, visual impairment or mobility issues. Each student negotiates a personal learning support plan.
There are workshops in written or spoken communication to help students whose first language is not English.
'First Steps' is a pre-College course designed for those who wish to gain College entry qualifications in core skills and personal development.
The College also has special programmes for people with Asperger’s Syndrome, and emotional and behavioural problems.
Adult entrants
Adult entrants are welcome and may be accepted without the normal entry requirements if they have relevant experience.
Part time study
Part time courses run both day and evening.
Flexible learning, in computing and other subjects, is available for any individual.
Community courses
Courses are run for local community groups, including those experiencing addiction, homelessness and mental health problems among others.

it runs Thistle Education, a commercial unit, to provide customised courses for industry
along with Glasgow Metropolitan and Central College, the College has signed a historic agreement to merge and establish a new world class city college.
