About The College:
James Watt College offers a range of mainly work-related courses to enhance and develop learners’ skills, knowledge and understanding and help drive and develop the local economy.
It has campuses in Greenock (Finnart and Waterfront), Kilwinning and Largs.
The College offers courses ranging from introductory and National Qualifications, to Higher National qualifications and degrees. It has links with several universities, including Abertay, Edinburgh Napier, Glasgow Caledonian, Heriot-Watt, Northumbria, Strathclyde and the West of Scotland.

Students come from the local area, elsewhere in Scotland and from Europe, China and the USA, as well as from the Middle and Far East. nearly half of the student population is over 25.
Support for learning
Student Information Centres in Greenock and North Ayrshire provide information, guidance, advice and support.
The Extended Learning Support System ensures that students who have additional support needs can obtain support tailored to their needs.
The Adult Resource Centre (ARC) has been specifically designed to meet the needs of students who have a visual impairment, physical disability or mental health issue.
Child care
The Finnart and North Ayrshire campuses have nurseries for children aged 3 to 5.
The College also works with partners to enable students to access nursery care for under-3s in Greenock.
Adult entrants
Adult students are welcome. You may not need formal qualifications.
Access courses
There are Access courses leading to higher education in Arts and Humanities and Primary Education and Nursing.
Part time study
The College runs an extensive range of part time day and evening courses. It also offers the widest range of open learning programmes (on-line and distance) in the west of Scotland.
Community courses
Local Community Learning Centres in Arran, Campbeltown, Dunoon and Stevenston run flexible courses in a range of subjects and at a variety of times to suit individual learners.
