About The University:
The University of Strathclyde received its charter in 1964, though it was founded in 1796, as Anderson’s Institute. It is the third largest university in Scotland, with an international reputation and outlook.
The university’s main campus is in the city centre with some courses at Jordanhill in the west end.
It provides credit based, flexible, modular courses through four faculties:- Strathclyde Business School
- Engineering
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Science.
Strathclyde has around 15,000 undergraduate students.
You could spend part of your undergraduate course abroad through:- doing a practical placement or taking classes for a full academic year or a semester
- exchange with universities in Europe, the USA, Canada, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and Australia.
Support for learning
The staff at the Centre for Academic Practice and Learning Enhancement (CAPLE) offer study skills advice and guidance.
Most courses have online teaching and learning materials.
The Disability Service has advisers to provide information, advice and assistance for disabled students.
Access courses for adults and pupils- There is an evening Pre-entry Certificate which is accepted by the Faculty Humanities and Social Sciences.
- A Summer School in chemistry, maths, physics, English Studies, psychology and study skills can help applicants to upgrade results slightly below the standard required.
- The university participates in Focus West, a programme of activities delivered in 29 secondary schools to support targeted pupils who may be thinking about applying to further and higher education.

The university offers a range of part time and distance learning options.

There are open days each September. It is also possible to visit the university on selected Monday mornings throughout the year, and if you are offered a place, you will be invited to an applicant visit.
Did you know?- In 2008, over 64% of Strathclyde students went directly into employment, 25% into further study and only 6% were unemployed six months after graduating.
- Strathclyde won a UK wide award for bringing sustainable and renewable energy to villages in Gambia and Malawi: the Green Gown Awards 2010, Social Responsibility category.
